HK public hospital experience: Earlier use of 2L therapies improves maternal outcomes, despite rise in massive primary PPH

A study conducted at a single public maternity unit in Hong Kong reports a 67 percent increase in massive primary postpartum haemorrhage (PPH) between 2006–2011 and 2017–2022, as well as considerable improvements in maternal outcomes, such as lower blood loss and hysterectomy rate, owing to increased use of second-line (2L) therapies.
