Nirsevimab outperforms maternal vaccine in direct comparison studies

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) remains a leading cause of hospitalisation and severe lower respiratory tract infection (LRTI) in infants worldwide. [Lancet 2022;399:2047-2064; Lancet 2017;390:946-958] In recent years, two immunoprophylactic strategies have become available to protect infants, namely maternal immunisation with the RSV prefusion F (RSVpreF) vaccine and passive immunisation of infants with the long-acting monoclonal antibody nirsevimab.

Evolution Haemophilia Care: Where are we now

Hemofilia merupakan gangguan perdarahan yang bersifat X-linked recessive, yang menyebabkan defisiensi faktor VIII (hemofilia A) atau faktor IX (hemofilia B). Insidens hemofilia lebih banyak terjadi pada anak dibandingkan dengan orang dewasa. Perdarahan spontan yang dapat berdampak serius terhadap kondisi kesehatan, serta penanganan yang tepat sangat diperlukan agar tidak menimbulkan perburukan dan komplikasi yang fatal. Upaya profilaksis untuk mencegah komplikasi dan sekaligus meningkatkan kualitas hidup pasien hemofilia menjadi pokok diskusi para pakar kesehatan dalam acara kongres virtual nasional Ilmu Kesehatan Anak (KONIKA) ke18 pada pertengahan bulan Oktober 2021 di Medan dengan 2 narasumber yaitu DR.
