Overview

Contraceptive methods are used to prevent pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
It is a method with high rate of effectiveness and ease of administration, and widely used method of reversible contraception. 
However, it does not protect against STIs/human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).
Examples of hormonal contraceptives include combined oral contraceptives (COCs), combination injectable contraception, combination transdermal patch, combination vaginal ring, Progestin-only pills (POPs), Progestin-only contraceptive implants, Progestin-only injectable contraceptives, Progestin-only contraceptive intrauterine system, and Progesterone-releasing vaginal ring.
