Specialist Referral

Referral to an immunology or allergy specialist is recommended if further allergy testing and interpretation are needed to confirm the diagnosis and facilitate allergen avoidance. Other indications for referral include severe or inadequately controlled allergic rhinitis despite optimized therapy and avoidance measures, patients having intolerable adverse effects to the therapeutic agents, allergen immunotherapy is being considered, and other atopic comorbidities requiring management.
