Where does combination therapy fit in the current BPH management?
Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) affects approximately 50% of men over 80 and can significantly impair their quality of life. BPH management primarily focuses in relieving lower urinary symptoms (LUTS). Lifestyle modifications and trial of medical therapy are generally recommended as first-line interventions, while some patients may benefit from a combination treatment approach. Individualizing management based on symptom severity, risk of disease progression, and patient needs must be considered in decision-making.1,2
