Differential Diagnosis

A large heterogenous group of conditions can mimic breast cancer. This would include both benign and malignant entities that develop from epithelial, mesothelial, adenomyoepithelium, luminal, and basal stem cells:

  • Breast abscess
  • Breast cyst
  • Breast sarcoma
  • Fat necrosis
  • Fibroadenoma
  • Granular cell tumor
  • Gynecomastia
  • Hamartoma
  • Hematoma
  • Lymphoma
  • Mastitis
  • Paget disease
  • Phyllodes tumor
  • Tubular adenoma
