The burden of chronic kidney disease (CKD) is expected to increase in Singapore over the coming decades. Alongside this, there will be a subsequent rise in comorbidities in this population, including COVID-19 and its complications. At the recent Family Medicine Review Course 2025 supported by Pfizer, Dr Behram Ali Khan, Senior Consultant Nephrologist and Adjunct Assistant Professor of Medicine, Renal Health Services (RHS), highlighted the role of general practitioners (GPs) in curbing the increasing prevalence of CKD in Singapore, including improving the uptake of updated COVID-19 vaccinations to prevent additional comorbidities in this population.
