Overview

Psoriatic arthritis is a chronic, inflammatory, seronegative spondyloarthropathy associated with psoriasis, as stated in the Introduction section.

The prevalence of psoriatic arthritis in the general population ranges from 0.1%-1%. A detailed discussion about the prevalence of psoriatic arthritis is in the Epidemiology section.

The Pathophysiology section states that psoriatic arthritis results from an interplay of genetic predisposition, environmental triggers (eg biomechanical stress, infections, smoking, obesity), local factors according to disease site (joints, skin, spine, and entheses), and interaction with innate and adaptive immune responses. The developmental process of psoriatic arthritis is in this section.

The Risk Factors section enumerates the factors that are associated with the development of psoriatic arthritis.
