Croup, also referred to as laryngotracheitis, laryngotracheobronchitis, & laryngotracheobronchopneumonitis, is a common cause of upper respiratory tract obstruction in children.
Occurrence of symptoms (eg barking cough, dyspnea, hoarse voice, inspiratory stridor, fever) is usually at night and with abrupt onset and improve during daytime.
Croup in children is a medical emergency requiring immediate treatment.
